AC Milan, the "Rossoneri," was founded in Milan in northern Italy in 1899. The club was founded as a football and cricket association by Britons Alfred Edwards and Herbert Kilpin. It is also thanks to its British background that the club is called AC Milan, Milan being the English name for Milano.
During a time when the Italian league, Serie A, was one of the best in the world, AC Milan was on everyone's lips. Between 1988 and 2004, the team won seven national league titles and four European Cup and Champions League titles.
AC Milan is one of the most classic teams in the world and the colors red and black (hence the nickname Rossoneri) are directly associated with the Milan club. The team shares the arena with local competitor Inter. The official name of the stadium is Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. However, since Giuseppe Meazza was one of the best football players who ever played for Inter, Milan fans refer to the arena as "San Siro." San Siro is one of the most powerful football arena in the world. Supporters in the Curva Sud create an amazing atmosphere and sing for 90 minutes while their beloved Milan is fighting for further successes on the pitch.
After some turbulent years, AC Milan is ready to take on a new season with a lot of enthusiasm, thanks to qualifying for Europa League and some big new signings, including Caldara and Higuaín.
