Singin’ in the Rain in London

Singin’ in the Rain is one of the classic musicals, from the golden age of musical films, one that almost everyone can sing (and whistle) the theme song from. And if not, here’s a reminder, of the classic scene featuring Gene Kelly’s famous umbrella dance.

– Does London need more rain?
– But of course!

Singin’ in the Rain is set at a time of change in the Hollywood film world. We follow the silent movie star Dan Lockwood who has everything he could ever want including fame, adulation and even a public romance with his co-star Lina Lamont. But his easy life is disturbed by rumours of a new kind of film that could change everything, a kind of film where actors actually talk… and even sing… and dance….!

Singin’ in the Rain is the story of the very first Hollywood musical, the moment in time when the silver screen found its voice and never looked back. It’s a musical featuring all the sparkle and spectacle of a golden age, it has a glorious score including well known classics such as Make ’em Laugh, Good Morning, Moses Supposes and, of course, the theme song, Singin’ in the Rain!
