Messi near legendary goal record

Lionel Messi, FC Barcelona, sovereign Argentinian forward, is close to beating a legendary goal record.

After Messi’s hat-trick on Saturday when Barcelona won by 5-0 against Atletico Madrid in front of 83,154 spectators at Camp Nou, Messi now has made 192 goals in his Barca shirt.

This is Messi’s twelfth hat-trick for Barcelona which means that he is now just two goals from touching the 194 goals the Hungarian goal machine Laszlo Kubala did for FC Barcelona in the 50s.

It is not long until Messi pass this milestone, and it would be surprising if he does not then throws himself on the ultimate record of being the player who has scored the most goals in FC Barcelona history.

The record is held by Cesar Rodriguez, who made 235 goals for FC Barcelona between 1939 and 1955.

– “I’m taking it quite calmly, but of course I would like to be the most goal making player in the club’s history,” said Messi in a statement on the club’s website.

– “It’s been many years now, and Kubala is still the best scorer in the modern era. But hopefully I can surpass him and continue to set new records here,” said Messi.
