Berlin’s Jewish heritage is unique: in the early 1900s, one third of all German Jews lived here, including highly respected figures whose contributions to the art and culture of Berlin. But within only a few years, this world was shattered by bigotry and the ascension of the Nazis. We explain how this history is dealt with today and how the Jewish community is rebuilding itself.

The tour concentrates on the old Jewish quarter and we will learn and hear about:
-The Old Synagogue (The final resting place of Moses Mendelssohn, the father of Reform Judaism, in the Old Cemetery).
-The New Jewish School and marvel at the domes of the New Synagogue.
-Visit the Workshop for the Blind , run by Otto Weidt, a non-Jew who helped save the lives of many during World War II
